Chapter 3 Season 3: Vibin'

Summary:

Vibin' was my first season working on Fortnite, aside from Jira triage support on the previous season, and was my first chance to be the production owner of seasonal gameplay features for Battle Royale. Among my responsbilities supporting the development of this season, I began learning the broad processes and pipelines of gameplay feature ownership by taking on our core weapon pool for the season. These were a perfect learning opportunity to onboard onto feature ownership due to being relatively risk-free given similarities to features the team had developed in past seasons. While these features were fairly simple compared to other seasonal offerings, owning them allowed me to be accountable for making sure they met our deadlines at quality through close collaboration with gameplay design, engineering and QA and coordination with the downstream teams supporting their development.

On top of this, I also took ownership of the gameplay triage process for the team I was supporting and became the primary POC for issue triage as well as bug burndown when approaching release milestones.

Contributions:

★ Supported production for a seasonal gameplay team working on Fortnite BR.

★ Created & maintained production documentation for features and processes across Jira, Confluence, Miro, Productboard, and Google Drive.

★ Prioritized, triaged, and backlogged/closed bugs based on prod timelines and in alignment with our goals.

★ Scheduled, attended, and captured notes & action items at meetings regarding our team's features.

★ Worked with design, engineering, and QA to task and track work.

★ Collaborated with the team's producer to identify process shortcomings & flaws, and proposed potential improvements.

★ Became production owner for a variety of seasonal items & features.

★ Helped reach a timely resolution for Fortnite live issues by assessing the impact, delegating investigation to the right developers, clarifying an action plan to address the issue, escalating & de-escalating when necessary, and maintaining consistent and clear communication.
